Sámi Language Week at the Library in Östersund
Every year, the Sámi Parliament highlights the Sámi languages through a Sámi Language Week, which takes place during week 43 in Sweden, Norway and Finland.
The aim of the Sámi Language Week is to raise the status of the Sámi languages, and to increase visibility and awareness of Sámi languages and Sámi culture throughout society. Together, we can take greater responsibility for ensuring that the Sámi languages are heard, seen, and used in all areas of life.
Welcome to the campus library in Östersund! Here you can take part of the photot exhibition Images from Åarjelsaepmie - the south Sámi area. You can also borrow books about the Sámi languages or learn a few words in our five Sámi languages: South Sámi, North Sámi, Lule Sámi, Pite Sámi, and Ume Sámi.
