On 31 March, the International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) is observed, an international day that aims to highlight transgender people's lives, experiences and important contributions to society.

The day also draws attention to the challenges and discrimination that many transgender people still face and emphasizes the importance of safety, rights and equal opportunities for all.

At Mid Sweden University, the work for gender equality and equal opportunities is an integral part of the activities. The LGBTQI+ perspective is a priority area and the university strives to be an inclusive, respectful and safe study and work environment where everyone can be themselves. Observing International Transgender Day of Visibility is a way to put these values into practice – through knowledge, visibility and conversation.

In this context, the University Library wants to contribute to increased awareness and reflection by highlighting literature, research and other resources by and about transgender people. The library serves as an important knowledge and meeting place within the university, and by highlighting issues relating to gender identity and gender expression, we want to strengthen the library's role as an open and inclusive environment for students and staff.

In connection with the day, TDOV is celebrated through book exhibitions on each campus and a digital book spinner that reflect a diversity of experiences, perspectives and voices. The hope is that these initiatives can contribute to increased understanding, inspire further reading and conversation, and clarify the University's position for everyone's equal value.

Welcome to take part of our exhibitions and resources.
