3. Publish and make research data Accessible
Publishing your research data provides increased visibility and impact. This strengthens credibility and can lead to more citations and collaborations, which in the long run can contribute to faster scientific development.
The extent to which research data can be made openly accessible is assessed on a case-by-case basis. This assessment may be influenced by legal provisions and research ethics considerations and can be conducted in consultation with the Research data access unit (DAU).
Many funders require research data to be made openly available. In some cases, however, data may need to be handled confidentially, for example due to non-disclosure agreements or personal data. This does not affect the right to request data under the principle of public access. To deny disclosure, support under the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act (SFS 2009:400) is required.
