Do you have a reading disability that affects your studies? If you have a reading disability that impacts your studies, you may be entitled to access your required course literature in an adapted format.
Adapted literature is provided by the Swedish Agency for Accessible Media (MTM) and is available in the digital library Legimus.
What is a talking book?
A talking book is a recorded, full-text version of a published book. According to copyright law, talking books are only available to individuals with a reading disability caused by a functional impairment.
Who can borrow talking books?
If you have difficulty reading printed text due to a functional impairment, you may be eligible to access Legimus.

How to apply for Legimus?
You need to book an appointment with us at the library. We will ask questions about your reading impairment and fill out a form. The response is sent to the Swedish Agency for Accessible Media (MTM), which decides whether you are entitled to Legimus or not.
If you already have a Legimus account
You can apply to transfer your account to us yourself. To do so, log in at legimus.se, go to My Pages, and then choose the option to transfer your account to the Mid Sweden University Library.

Order new production of talking books
If a required course book is not available in Legimus, you can request an audiobook recording. The process takes 6–12 weeks, so make sure to place your request well in advance.
Download the Text-to-Speech Software TorTalk
As a student at Mid Sweden University, you can download the text-to-speech software TorTalk. It works on both PC and Mac computers and can read aloud all types of digital texts, such as e-books, PDFs, and scanned documents. Simply highlight the text on your screen, and TorTalk will read it for you.

Contact co-ordinator
If you have a disibility, a co-ordinator can help you with additional support such as note-taking assistance, assistive technology, and extended exam time.
