Record number of students at this year's edition of Unga Bünsow
With 220 students participating, a new record was set at this year's Young Bünsow. For many, the day was a chance to make contacts, gain insight into working life and discover opportunities for degree projects, trainee programs and future jobs with regional employers.
The event is an important meeting place between students and the business community in Västernorrland. For many, the day is about getting a better picture of the labour market and discovering what opportunities are available after their studies.
One of the participants was Dilmina Yarmukhamedova, who is studying her second year at Computer Science and Engineering at Mid Sweden University. She describes curiosity about future career opportunities as the main reason she participated.
"I'm here to talk to employers and find out what opportunities there are for us students as we approach graduation. I'm interested in hearing more about degree projects, trainee programmes and other ways into working life," says Dilmina Yarmukhamedova.
A strength of Unga Bünsow is the opportunity to meet companies and organizations directly.
"You get a lot of information from the companies and the opportunity to talk to them face to face. Then you can get a better understanding of what they do and what opportunities they offer. I think that's very valuable."
For many students, a first meeting at a trade fair or conference can be the start of something bigger. It can be a degree project, an internship or, in the best case, a future job.
"If I can dream a little, the best thing that could happen today is for me to find a job. That's what I'm looking for," says Dilmina Yarmukhamedova with a laugh.
During the day, the students' achievements were also recognized by SCA awarding study scholarships to six students at Mid Sweden University. The scholarships were awarded to degree projects linked to SCA's industry areas and aim to encourage collaboration between academia and business.
