More campus students apply to Mid Sweden University
For the autumn semester of 2026, applications for studies at Mid Sweden University's campuses have increased by 12.3 percent, from 7,515 applicants in 2025 to 8,438 applicants in 2026. One of the programmes that has attracted is the newly established social work programme that will start in Sundsvall.
For Mid Sweden University, the number of applicants has increased compared to the previous year, from 39,814 to 40,574. As for the number of first-choice applicants, it has increased by 2.8 per cent for programmes and decreased by 3.6 per cent for courses, which means that the university remains at about the same level as in previous years.
"It is very gratifying that we are seeing a clear increase in applicants for our campus education. Vibrant campus environments are important – both for the students' learning and experience, but also for the development of the places where we operate. It strengthens the role of the entire university in society," says Anders Fällström, Vice-Chancellor of Mid Sweden University.
Relevant programmes that meets the needs
The Behavioural Science programme tops the number of applicants, followed by Web Development. The social work programme has climbed this year and is now in third place, among the most sought-after programmes.
Other programmes that have received an increased number of applications are Mid Sweden University's various teacher training programmes, as well as nursing programmes.
"We see a continued strong interest in education that is closely linked to the skills needs that exist in our regions. For us as a higher education institution, it is crucial to offer education that is relevant and contributes to meeting society's needs, not least in the area of welfare," says Anders Fällström.
The application period for studying at universities and colleges this autumn ended on 15 April. In the country, a total of 424,113 people have applied for education for the autumn term of 2026, compared with just over 411,200 for the autumn term of 2025.
For some educations, it is possible to make a late registration. Late registrations will be processed subject to vacancies on the programme. See more at www.antagning.se.
