Threats, violence and hatred
Threats, violence and hatred are a serious work environment problem. Mid Sweden University does not accept that any employee or student is subjected to threats, violence or hatred in the work environment.
Should you be affected or become aware of whether someone at the workplace has been exposed, contact your immediate manager as soon as possible.
If you are exposed online, follow these steps:
- Save the e-mail, links, web pages, or take a "screenshot" of the page where the message appears
- Make a note of the date and time when you received/discovered the message
- Save any emails
- Inform your line manager
- Report the incident to the police
In the event of ongoing threats or violence
- Try to deflect the threat by behaving calmly. Call for help from others. Keep a safe distance.
- In the event of violence, try to leave the scene and encourage others to leave as well. If you can't leave, seek shelter.
- Note the emergency exits
- Turn off sound and vibration on your mobile phone.
- Emergency in progress: call 112. You will be asked to describe what the incident is about and if, for example, medical care is needed.
- In non-emergency situations, contact Securitas 010-4705332 and state which campus it concerns.
Do not intervene unless it can be done without risk. - Contact your immediate manager immediately. Tell them what has happened and if help has been called.
- Document any observations you have made as soon as you can. Take note of what you saw, where it happened, who were there, where did it happen. what has been said, how the threat has been made, was there violence, who did what, etc.
