Sociology MA, Foundations for Knowledge Production, 7.5 Credits

This course covers modern and contemporary theories of knowledge, focusing on their relevance to methodology in sociological research. In this course we engage with a wide range of epistemological perspectives and discuss methodological approaches and issues. Here, knowledge production is explored in relation to both qualitative and quantitative sociological research methods. In addition, the course addresses research ethics as key to knowledge production.

The structure of the teaching

The campus course includes several meetings where you are expected to participate on site, and some components require mandatory attendance.

The distance course requires that you have access to a computer with an internet connection. All communication takes place via the course’s online platform and meeting tools such as Zoom.

Entry requirements

A bachelor's degree of at least 180 credits in social or behavioural sciences, of which a minimum of 60 credits in sociology. English level 2/English 6 from Swedish Upper Secondary School (Gymnasium) or the equivalent.
