About the programme

The programme offers courses highlighting the relationship between professional development and research. Topics include leadership and development of educational activities, adult learning, conditions for young children’s learning, didactics, quality assurance and evaluation in educational contexts, and research methodology. A significant part of the programme consists of an independent project. The programme is offered part-time over eight semesters.

The structure of the teaching

The programme is mainly delivered online. The number of compulsory elements and potential campus meetings varies between courses.

Entry requirements

A completed degree of at least 180 credits, including an independent project of 15 credits in education or an equivalent subject area, or a completed teacher education degree of at least 180 credits with an independent project of 15 credits. Additionally, proficiency in Swedish and English equivalent to the general entry requirements for Swedish higher education at the undergraduate level is required.

There is demand for qualified professionals with expertise in education in both the private and public sectors, such as in education, organisations, companies, the healthcare sector, and leisure activities.

You may also choose to continue to doctoral studies towards a licentiate or PhD degree. If you aim to work as a school principal, you may be able to transfer up to 20 credits from the Master’s programme towards the National School Leadership Training Programme.
