Aim

The course provides an introduction to the interdiciplinary field of information systems. The aims is that the students develop knowledge and understanding of different types of information systems and their contexts as well as of the basic system theoretical perspectives and approaches.

Course objectives

After completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- describe key concepts, theories and models in the field
- compare at a general level theories of systems for analyzing and evaluating their usefulness for systems analysis
- independently and critically identify and describe an information system
- apply systems theory principles and relevant methods for analyzing and evaluating an information system and justify proposals for development
- reflect on the use of information systems in the field of industrial organization and management and the related knowledge needs

Entry requirements

Industrial engineering and management, Ba, 12 credit points, including Process and system development, 6 credit points.

Teaching form

The teaching is conducted mainly in the form of lectures, interactive sessions and seminars and different assignments.

I101: Assignment, 3 Credits
Grade scale: Fail (U), Pass (G), or Pass with distinction (VG)

I102: Assignment, 3 Credits
Grade scale: Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.
