Aim

The aim of the course is for students to develop an in-depth understanding of the association between physical activity and health, with a particular focus on measurement methodology. The course also aims for students to acquire knowledge in the scientific methods and measurement techniques used to evaluate and analyse physical activity and its impact on health.

Course objectives

After completing the course, the student is expected to:

Knowledge and Understanding:
- Justify the importance of physical activity for health, as well as demonstrate insight into the fundamental factors that underlie this need.
- Describe and evaluate various parameters for energy expenditure.
- Describe and evaluate key principles and methods for measuring physical activity and health.
- Apply and evaluate different methods for measuring physical activity and health.
- Explain how a research study in the field can be planned and conducted.

Skills and Abilities:
- Critically review scientific articles and studies related to measurement methods for evaluating physical activity and health.
- Demonstrate the ability to apply and evaluate selected measurement methods in an independent project.
- Demonstrate the ability to present and discuss one's own and others' projects within the field, both in writing and orally.
