Aim

The purpose of the course is to give students knowledge of how theories and methods in mechanical engineering can be applied in development and analysis of different applications. The course is conducted in project form where students must independently achieve in-depth knowledge in a specific area of mechanical engineering.

Course objectives

After completing the course, the student should be able to:

  • plan the time to solve a task,
  • formulate relevant problem statements based on a client’s needs description,
  • formulate technical requirements for functions based on those problem statements and the needs description,
  • implement functions in such a way that they fulfill the formulated technical requirements,
  • evaluate the implementation of functions in relation to the technical requirements and the needs description,
  • report on the work both in writing (in a technical report) and orally, in accordance with given standards.

Content

The course work includes project planning, project work in mechanical engineering, documentation, presentation, and evaluation.

Mechanical Engineering, 15 credits.

Selection rules and procedures

The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.

Teaching form

The work effort for the entire course normally comprises 800 hours. This means that in addition to scheduled time, the student must complete extensive self-studies. The number of teaching hours for the specific course session is defined in the schedule.
