Education BA (B), Education for All - The Swedish System, 7.5 credits

Aim

The aim of the course is for the student, within the main field of pedagogy, to develop knowledge about 'Education for All'.

Course objectives

After completing the course, the student should:

- demonstrate the ability for critical reflection and analysis of Swedish educational policy and practice in relation to political, societal, cultural, and pedagogical contexts,

- have acquired knowledge and understanding of the importance of equity and fundamental values within the Swedish educational context,

- possess knowledge of how the Swedish school system works with special education, as well as inclusion with a focus on participation and community,

- have knowledge of practical and aesthetic expressions and learning processes as tools for inclusion and an education for all.

Curricula and other policy documents for the Swedish school system,
- Fundamental values of democracy in educational work,
- Special educational needs and inclusion with focus on students participation and community,
- Policies and implementation concerning "Education for All"
- Practical and aesthetical expressions and learning processes.

Selection rules and procedures

The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.

Teaching form

The teaching is normally organized through lecturing, seminars, group exercises and tutorials. The teaching activities can be carried out with support from information and communication technology as a whole or partly. Parts of the teaching can be compulsory. The course will be given in English.

Examination form

2101: Practical and aesthetical expressions and learning processes, oral Examination, 2.5 Credits
Grade scale: Seven-grade scale, A-F o Fx

2102: Special Educational Needs, written paper, 5 Credits
Grade scale: Seven-grade scale, A-F o Fx

The student is assessed both in writing and orally. The assessment can take place continuously during the course or at the end of the course. The course work should be examined at the ordinary examination or re-examined at a later occasion during the same semester. Two opportunities to re-examine the course work are normally given in the following semester while the student has requested it. After that a student with a fail-grade is advised to participate in the next ordinary examination. Re-examinations based on the same curriculum are guaranteed within one year after the first registration on the course.

If a student has a decision from the coordinator at Mid Sweden University regarding educational support for disabilities, the examiner has the right to provide adapted examination for the student.
