Aim

The aim of the course is that the student, within the major area of teacher educational studies, develops knowledge of ‘Education for All’ and practical and aesthetical expressions and learning processes in relation to the compulsory and voluntary Swedish school system.

Course objectives

After completion of the course the students should:
- display ability to critically reflect on and analyze the policies and practice of schooling in political, societal, cultural, and pedagogical contexts,
- have knowledge of how the Swedish schools work with special educational needs and inclusion with focus on students participation and community,
- have gained knowledge and understanding of the importance of equality and fundamental values for educational work,
- have gained knowledge of practical and aesthetical expressions and learning processes.

- Curricula and other policy documents for the Swedish school system,
- Fundamental values of democracy in educational work,
- Special educational needs and inclusion with focus on students participation and community,
- Policies and implementation concerning "Education for All"
- Practical and aesthetical expressions and learning processes.

Selection rules and procedures

The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.

Teaching form

The teaching is normally organized through lecturing, seminars, group exercises and tutorials. The teaching activities can be carried out with support from information and communication technology as a whole or partly. Parts of the teaching can be compulsory. The course will be given in English.

Examination form

2101: Practical and aesthetical expressions and learning processes, oral Examination, 2.5 Credits
Grade scale: Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.

2102: Special Educational Needs, written paper, 5 Credits
Grade scale: Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.

The course examinations are written and oral, continuous or final. The course work should be examined at the ordinary examination or re-examined at a later occasion during the same semester. Two opportunities to re-examine the course work are normally given in the following semester while the student has requested it. After that a student with a fail-grade is advised to participate in the next ordinary examination. Re-examinations based on the same curriculum are guaranteed within one year after the first registration on the course.
