Aim

The aim of the course is:
- to introduce basic sociological qualitative methods
- to introduce sociological methodology at a basic level
- to facilitate the application of sociological methods in a small qulitative research project.

Course objectives

When finalizing the course the student will be able to:
- collect different kinds of qualitative data
- perform analysis of qualitative data
- describe the use of different qualitative research methods
- describe and compare different points of departure for scientific theory

Content

The aim of the course is to provide basic knowledge and skills about the different parts of the research process with a focus on qualitative analysis and interpretation methods. The course contains: methodology, theoretical starting points for qualitative sociology, observations and interviews, analysis of qualitative materials.
