Aim
The course aims to deepen the student’s ability to independently plan, conduct, and critically evaluate a scientific investigation within engineering physics. By summarising relevant literature, applying appropriate methods for data collection and analysis, and assessing the accuracy of results, the student develops the ability to draw well‑founded conclusions, compare findings with prior research, and communicate results scientifically in English.
Course objectives
Upon completion of the course the student should be able to:
- summarize relevant scientific literature for the project;
- plan and carry out a scientific investigation in the field of engineering physics;
- use appropriate methods for data collection and analysis;
- assess the accuracy of the results and draw conclusions from the results obtained;
- compare the results obtained with the results from previous research; and
- communicate in English, both orally and in writing, their results and arguments in a scientific manner, according to accepted and given norms.
Content
Scientific study in an area of engineering physics. Review of relevant scientific literature. Data collection and analysis adapted to the project's research objectives. Presentation of results and conclusions from the study in English according to given standards.
Entry requirements
Degree of Bachelor/Bachelor of Science in Engineering of at least 180 credits (180 ECTS). The education at first level, must include at least 60 credits in Physics, or alternatively 30 credits in Physics and 30 credits in Chemistry/Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering, and 30 credits in Mathematics .
Proven language proficiency in English: English 6 or English level 2 from Swedish Upper Secondary School (Gymnasium) or equivalent.
