Fine Dust Measurement

Save favourite 20 Dec December 2017

Knowledge about the status of the environment inside of a room lead to knowledge about uncomfortable or dangerous situations regarding the concentration of smoke, oxygen, laudness or other influences. To watch limits and react if neccesary is a contribution for a sustainable development of livestile.

Project Goal

Aim of the project is the development of a system, with which it is possible to supervise the environment conditions in a room like a concert hall, a lecture hall, in sports halls, but also in smaller rooms. If many people are in a room, the air condition can developing worse, so that windows should be opened, vans switched on or the people have to go outside. In discotheques can be interesting the measurement of loudness. The actual status of the environment should be accecable for every person via smartphone.

Study Areas

the students can come from electrical engineering, mechatronics, technical computer sciences

Electrical Engineering

The students contribute to the project in following fields:

  • Electronics and PCB design, assembling and test of a commercial sensors, adapting to an ARDUINO / Raspberry PI.
  • Design the power supply inside of the bulb
  • Trying to calibrate the device

Computer Engineering/Computer Science

The students contribute to the project in following fields:

  • Realising of the data acquisition by the ARDUINO
  • Programming of Arduino and Raspberry PI
  • Development of an App on ANDROID basis.

Computer Environmental Science

  • The students contribute to the project in following fields:
  • What kind of health influences have what concentrations of what kind of quantity.
  • Covers the parameters of the used sensors the whole range?

Economy

The students contribute to the project in following fields:

  • Try to find numbers about the economical impact of health problems, caused by not detected quantities.
  • What would be the price of a developt device, depending of the amount of production.
  • Attemtion to compare the price of a warning system to the price of the economical impact, caused by not detection.
