Forum for digitalization (FODI) develops and communicates knowledge about information, design and society analysis. We conduct research and education in collaboration with public-, private sector and society.

FODI is a multi-disciplinary forum that consists of researchers from several fields, such as archival science, information systems and industrial economics. We combine a critical approach with an ambition to contribute to a positive development of society.

FODI coordinates activities within the university as well as in collaboration with society. Our approach creates unique opportunities to be a part of and participate in research results and education that cover different aspects of digitalization.

Blended learning and learning analytics

Our perspective of blended learning is founded in the convergence between traditional face-to-face rostrum education and technology enhanced learning. The primary goal of blended learning is to increase the educational quality where we study various student groups, located on and off Campus. Examples of our research fields are game-based learning and collaborative learning.

We define learning analytics as the collection, analysis, and presentation of student’s activities in learning environments. Our angles on learning analytics are two-folded where the first one is to increase the educational experience from the students’ perspective. The second angle is to use learning analytics for evaluation and research in the area of blended learning. Examples of our research contexts are our Learning Management Systems and classroom observations.

IT and profession development

Our research studies how different professions, such as IT-architects, archival staff, registrators contributes to and are affected by digitalization. The research aims to understand the need for change certain professions need to undergo in order to face the challenges of digitalization.

Collaboration

Within the collaboration theme, different aspects of collaboration such as technology, networks, belonging and trust is studied. Collaboration can be intra-organizational as well as inter-organizational, which demand different types of technological support. We also conduct research on learning and cooperation. Intentions, roles, responsibility, leadership and communication are other types of factors that are relevant in our research.
