Lisa Lindström recognised for creating a learning environment where students feel seen
Lisa Lindström, lecturer and doctoral student in the subject of psychology, is the recipient of the Student Union's pedagogical prize in Östersund. "Receiving this particular award feels extra honorable because I can't take a course or write an exam to be awarded it," she says.
"The fact that students appreciate me as a teacher to such an extent that they have taken the time to nominate me makes it extra valuable. I am very touched by their effort and happy that I get to be a teacher to my committed psychology students," she continues.
The award is about more than knowledge transfer. It is about commitment, inspiration and the ability to see each student. In the motivation for why Lisa receives the pedagogical award, it is stated that "Lisa is a teacher who does more than convey knowledge - she creates a learning environment where students feel seen, engaged and involved. In her teaching, she treats the students with respect and sees them not only as students, but as future colleagues in the psychology profession."
A prize that gives extra energy
"I am getting teary-eyed! I want to celebrate with my students and thank them. It also gives me extra energy for the coming semester and to continue to develop my role as a teacher and the psychology programme as a whole. I see that we have developed together and I have their feedback and our collaboration to thank for who I am as a teacher. Without them, I would not have been the teacher I am today.
Lisa Lindström is doing her PhD in the subject of mental health and integration in people with refugee backgrounds.
"Right now, I am analysing qualitative data where people with refugee backgrounds have been asked to tell their life story, how they view integration and what they think could facilitate the process of creating a meaningful life in a new country.
Used for professional development
In addition to the honor, the prize winners will have the opportunity to use the prize money of SEK 10,000 for professional development
"I look forward to taking a course and immersing myself in an area that both I and the students can benefit from, perhaps in personality diagnostics or couples therapy.
