Academic Ceremony programme, October 2026

Thursday, 1 October

9.00-14.30 – Inauguration lectures, Campus Sundsvall
2026 year’s honorary doctors and professors give their inaugural lectures. The lectures are open for everyone.

15.30 – Rehearsal, Sundsvalls Stadshus
In order for everything to work well during the ceremony, we have a common genre for everyone who will participate on the stage. It is important that you participate in the rehearsal and that you arrive on time.

19.00 – Vice-chancellor’s formal dinner
The Vice-chancellor invites all participants to a dinner. The dinner is pre-booked through the registration link attached to the official invitation. 

Friday, 2 October

14.00 – Ceremony hall, Sundsvalls Stadshus
We gather in the ceremony hall, where you try your doctoral hat or laurel wreath. Please come dressed for the academic procession. 

14.30 – Photography
The participants of Ceremony are photographed in their festive clothing.

15.00 – Snacks and refreshments are served

15.45 – Gather for the academic procession
The ceremony begins with a procession in which you participate. We gather and line up outside the ceremony hall.

15.45 – The guests have taken their seats in the ceremony hall
Your accompanying person and your guests must sit in their seats (free placement) no later than 3.45 p.m. The ceremony is open to the public.

16.00 – Ceremony begins
The ceremony begins with the academic procession and lasts about two hours.

18.15 – Banquet, Quality hotel
After the ceremony, the banquet (pre-booked upon registration) starts with drink and mingle. Dinner, which is framed with speeches and entertainment, starts at 18.45.
