Academic Ceremony, October 9–10, 2025

The academic ceremony spans two days, October 9–10. On Thursday, newly appointed honorary doctors and professors will give their inaugural lectures at the Östersund campus.

Promoting Your Lecture

To attract an audience, we will promote the lectures through various channels, including calendar events.
By June 13, please email the following to akademiskhogtid@miun.se:

• The title of your lecture
• A short summary of your topic
• A photo of yourself

Lunch on Campus

In connection with the inaugural lectures, the university will offer lunch at the campus restaurant.

Dress Rehearsal and the Vice-Chancellor’s Formal Dinner – October 9

After the lectures, a dress rehearsal will be held for all ceremony participants (honorary doctors, doctors, professors, and award recipients). Later that evening, the Vice-Chancellor will host a formal dinner, providing an opportunity for participants to meet and socialize in a relaxed setting.

Banquet

The ceremony is followed by a banquet, beginning with a reception at Gamla Teatern. The dinner includes speeches and entertainment.

Mid Sweden University invites each promovendi and one accompanying guest to the banquet free of charge. You may also invite up to four additional guests at a set price per person.

Please note: The banquet includes alcohol and is a seated dinner lasting several hours. It is therefore not suitable for young children. The minimum age for attending the banquet is 16 years.

Dress Code

For those participating in the procession, formal attire is required: White tie with white waistcoat/cummerbund, white bow tie, black socks, and black patent leather shoes or full-length gown or top with a long skirt in any color. 

For accompanying guests and banquet attendees, formal attire or dark suit is appropriate.
Guests attending only the ceremony as audience members may wear attire of their choice.

Travel and Accommodation

The university will reimburse travel between campus locations for those being installed.
If you live outside the campus cities, you are responsible for your own travel to and from Östersund. Accompanying guests cover their own travel expenses.

Hotel rooms have been reserved for those whose workplace is not in Östersund. Your accompanying guest may stay with you at no additional cost. You can book your reserved hotel room when you register in the system.

Material for Digital Presentation

By September 5, please send a short personal presentation and a photo (if different from the one submitted for the calendar event). This will be used in a digital presentation of all ceremony participants.

Invitation and Registration

At the end of August, you will receive an official invitation to the ceremony, including a link to the registration system. Please note that you must register yourself and any accompanying guest for the banquet by September 17.
