Associate Professor seminar with Christina Dahlström
Welcome to an Associate Professor seminar with Christina Dahlström, Senior lecturer in Chemical Engineering at FSCN research centre Mid Sweden University. The lecture is given in Zoom and in English.
Title: Cellulose-based materials for energy storage and energy harvesting
Global growth requires an ever-increasing need for energy, which leads to profound impact on our world and climate due to excessive consumption of fossil fuels. The global warming and our awareness of limited resources demands a development of new sustainable energy technologies.
Cellulose is the most abundant polymer on earth and it is renewable, recyclable and biodegradable. Cellulose-based materials have many superior properties like high mechanical strength and flexibility that have been utilized in various ways in the history of mankind. Since cellulose can be derived into several structural forms with different functionalities, it can be used in many different technical applications. Recently, cellulose-based materials have proven to be potential “green” candidates for efficient energy storage and energy harvesting devices.
