Background

I am a social worker and have previously worked in the social services, mainly with children and young people

Research

My research focuses on children placed in foster care and their relationships with their network of origin. Network of origin refers to individuals who are significant to children and young people in foster care and whom they knew before their placement in foster care.
With increased knowledge about these relationships, children placed in foster care can receive better support in maintaining, or re-establishing, significant relationships in the network of origin. This can contribute to continuity and stability in the child's life, and increase the child's opportunities for a supportive network in the future.
