Area of interest
My research primarily concerns children’s encounters with ambulance services and other emergency response services. During my doctoral studies, I examined care encounters between children and ambulance personnel, with a particular focus on how children experience these encounters and the conditions that enable participation, safety, and good care in acute situations. Since completing my PhD, I have continued to focus on children’s sense of safety in the ambulance, and on how ambulance personnel can create calm, trust, and understanding for children in situations often marked by stress, uncertainty, and vulnerability.
I also have a broader research interest in emergency response services and their work in complex societal situations. I am particularly interested in collaboration between ambulance services and the police, and in how different professions work together in situations where medical, social, and safety-related needs intersect. Another area I would like to develop further is how emergency response services identify, respond to, and work with intimate partner violence, both in the acute phase and in relation to continued support and protection for the person exposed to violence.
Research
-During doctoral studies, the project "Children in the ambulance" was carried out to assess the care encounter between children and ambulance personnel.
-Together with Region Jämtland Härjedalen, I have been awarded research funding from the County Administrative Board of Jämtland County for an intervention project focusing on intimate partner violence. The project aims to strengthen the ambulance service’s work in identifying, responding to, and taking action in cases of suspected intimate partner violence. The project has been awarded SEK 946,679 in research funding.
