Best care for the dying person - staff perspective
My research focuses on home-based palliative care and the relational dimensions of care and leadership in the last days of life. I examine how home care workers and registered nurses work together to support individuals and families receiving end-of-life care at home. Through qualitative research, I explore the experiences of compassionate caregiving, relational leadership, and interprofessional collaboration, as well as the organizational conditions that influence care delivery. My work highlights the importance of mutual dependency, reflective practice, and organizational support in enabling high-quality, person-centered palliative care.
Background
I’m a registered nurse specialized in palliative care from the Netherlands and I’ve worked in home-based palliative care for over 13 years in the north of Sweden. I’m pursuing a doctorate in palliative care nursing since September 2023.
