Certificates and grades
There are a few different certificates/grades that can be issued during or when you end your employment:
- Employer's certificate
- Certificate of employment
- Certificate of employment
- Service certificate
Employer's certificate
When you terminate your employment, the employer is obliged to provide you with an employer's certificate at your request. You need the certificate if you are going to apply for unemployment benefit or activity support.

Certificate of employment
A certificate of employment describes your current employment. A certificate of employment contains information about the type of employment, length of employment, employment rate, degree of service and salary if desired.
An employment certificate may be needed to prove information about employment or salary and may be required by, for example, landlords or banks.

Certificate of employment
A certificate of employment contains information about your employment and a brief description of the tasks you have or have had. The certificate does not contain any grades.
If you need a certificate of employment, contact your immediate manager.
Service certificate
If you have been employed for at least six months, you can request a service certificate. In addition to the information included in the certificate of service, it also includes an assessment of your professional skills, how you are perceived and the reason for terminating your employment.
