Working hours for T/A staff
These are the rules that apply regarding working hours, flexitime and travel time for technical and administrative staff at Mid Sweden University. For some groups of staff, special working-hours agreements have been drawn up that differ from these rules.
Regular working hours
Regular working hours is eight hours/day, 08.00-16:30 including 30 minutes lunch break.
The regular working week, which is 40 hours long, includes extra time to account for 'bridge days' and shortened working days.
Part time
For part-time workers, the number of work hours during a week is proportional to the full-time working week.
Lunchtime and breaks
During regular working hours, you must take at least a half-hour lunch break that is not included in the working hours. However, two 15-minute breaks are counted in the working hours.
Flexitime
Provided that work circumstances allow it, you may, in consultation with your supervisor, be entitled to use flexitime. The maximum deficit/credit for the flexible working time account is -10/+50.
Travel time
Travel time within normal working time is counted as working time.
Travel time outside the normal working time are compensated in accordance with the Conditions Agreement/Conditional Agreement-T pursuant to Chapter 10.
Bridge days, public holidays and shortened workdays
Bridge days are workdays that fall between two non-working days. For example, the Friday after Ascension Day is a bridge day, since it falls between a public holiday and a Saturday. However, the employer may require you to be on duty on these days if you are needed at work. Compensation in the case of work on bridge days is provided in the form of money (simple overtime) or as leave (compensatory leave).
The following days are counted as public holidays:
- Holy Saturday (Easter Eve)
- The National Day of Sweden
- Midsummer's Eve
- Christmas Eve
- New Year's Eve
- Shortened working days
Shortened working days
- Twelfth Night, shortened by 4 hours
- Maundy Thursday, shortened by 2 hours
- The 30th of April, which falls on a Monday – Thursday, shortened by 2 hours Friday, shortened by 4 hours
- The day before All Saints' Day, shortened by 4 hours
- The 23rd of December, when it falls on a Friday, shortened by 4 hours
