Workshops & Seminars
We provide a range of workshops and seminars, from general grant proposal writing training to specialized seminars about particular calls.
Some workshops are organized on a regular basis, while others are offered on demand. If you are interested in participating in any of the workshops, please contact us via grantsoffice@miun.se so that we can get in touch with you. We are also happy to visit your research group with a tailored presentation/workshop!
Grant writing seminar
A half-day seminar covering a variety of topics, including practical tips for writing proposals, the perspective of the reviewer, and how to write a data management plan. We will put special emphasis on how to formulate clear and attractive project aims, what the background section should (not) include, and discussing how to write a project plan. This seminar is usually organized twice a year, in January and September.
ERC grants
The European Research Council (ERC) is the European Union’s main funding mechanism for funding basic research projects. In this half-day seminar you can learn what ERC starting, consolidator, advanced, and synergy grants are, what types of projects ERC funds, and how to write a strong application. This seminar is usually held once a year (around April/May).
Marie Curie Postdoc
Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) are the European Union’s main funding source for postdoctoral and doctoral training. The Marie Curie program also puts a particular emphasis on supporting researchers’ international mobility. Marie-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships come in two varieties: “European fellowships” fund a 2 year position for applicants of any nationality at a European host institute, e.g. Mid Sweden University. To be eligible, the candidate may not have lived in the host institute’s country for more than 12 months in the past 3 years. “Global fellowships” fund 3 year postdoctoral fellowships for candidates that are EU citizen or permanent residents; up to 2 years of the fellowships are a spent at an institute outside Europe followed by a one-year return period at the European host institute, e.g. Mid Sweden University. In this seminar, we discuss the Marie Curie fellowship program, the evaluation process, and give you practical tips for how to write the different parts of a successful proposal.
