Build a cybersecurity culture
A strong cybersecurity culture is about values, attitudes, knowledge, and behaviors within the organization that influence how individuals understand, manage, and act on cybersecurity issues. It’s not just about technology, but about how employees relate to security matters in their everyday lives.
During October, Mid Sweden University conducted a test in the form of a simulated phishing email sent to employees. The purpose was to assess how well we as an organization are prepared for the types of attacks that, unfortunately, are becoming increasingly common. We informed staff about the upcoming email in the first news post on the employee pages regarding Cybersecurity Month.
Results from the test
The email was sent to all staff at Mid Sweden University. A total of 463 people clicked on the link. This is a high number and signals that we need to continue working actively on our cybersecurity – through training, increased awareness, and everyday routines.
Recognising and responding correctly on suspicious emails is an important part of our shared responsibility to protect both ourselves and the University's information. When you receive an email, always remember to check the sender's address.
