"In research, we will link together relevant subject environments at our two universities. It is important that research and education go hand in hand, and therefore we will especially collaborate on research and development in areas that are also relevant for educational collaborations. There are already several areas where we have strong collaborations and others that are in the starting blocks. We will also develop joint anthologies. A first is intended to deal with different aspects of distance and online education. We will also benefit from our collaborations to make joint EU applications, not least within INTERREG," says Anders Fällström, Vice-Chancellor.

When it comes to education and skills development, both universities see opportunities to collaborate in several areas, for example when it comes to developing methods for various flexible educations.

"We have identified areas such as health, safety and preparedness, but we also see opportunities for collaboration on transformative technology in forestry. Given the universities' commitment to Sami issues, it is of course also a natural area where we can see joint educational efforts," says Anna Olofsson, Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

The universities also want to find ways of collaborating on recruitment and marketing issues. The agreement is written for three years and each university undertakes to allocate financial resources so that collaborative projects can be realised.

Footnote:
Nord University was formed on 1 January 2016 as a result of a merger between the University of Nordland, Nesna University College and Nord-Trøndelag University. The university has 11300 students and 1400 employees in the study towns of Bodø, Levanger, Steinkjer, Stjørdal, Mo i Rana, Namsos, Nesna and Vesterålen.
