Christmas greetings to all employees at Mid Sweden University

As we now approach Christmas, Mid Sweden University's 20th anniversary is also coming to an end. During the year, we have had reason to both celebrate and stop to reflect on the university's journey – and on what kind of university we want to be in the future.

We are entering a time of tougher economic conditions. This means that we need to work strategically and more long-term with different forms of financing and how we use our resources. At the same time, we continue to develop the university. This includes everything from our international engagement, e.g. in the European university alliance ChallengeEU, and the development towards open science to digitalisation and streamlining of administrative processes.

There is also a lot that shows strength in our business. Interest in our courses is still high and the number of applicants is good. This is a clear sign of the university's attractiveness and relevance.

In parallel, work is underway on our new vision and goals for the future. It is important work that helps us jointly formulate direction and ambition for the coming years, based on the lessons learned from the first 20 years.

Next year is also an election year. It reminds us of the importance of democracy, openness and trust – and of the special role of universities in safeguarding knowledge and a free exchange of opinions. These are values that are fundamental both for our business and for society as a whole.

Mid Sweden University is ultimately all of us who work and study here. Through commitment, knowledge and daily work – in education, research, collaboration and operational support – the quality and stability that allows us to face the future with anticipation and confidence are created.

We now want to wish you a very Merry Christmas and hope that there will be good opportunities for time off, reflection and things that make us happy – big and small – and a well-deserved break before we take on the next chapter.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year – see you in 2026!

/Louise, Anders and Anna
