Property issues are now gathered in a separate department
From the turn of the year, Mid Sweden University will have a new department within the administration, namely the Property Department.
The purpose of the change is to have a more streamlined and clear organisation, which creates better conditions for a comprehensive and long-term work with our campus environments.
During the year, an investigation was carried out into how the property unit, which currently belongs to the Division of Infrastructure (INFRA), can be organised as an independent department within the administration. After a risk analysis together with the chief safety representative and an MBL negotiation, University Director Louise Beskow has now made the formal decision to form a Property Departement.
"There are several underlying reasons for the decision to gather property issues in a clearer and more cohesive organisation, but above all it is about the fact that our campus environments are crucial for Mid Sweden University to be a place where staff and students want to meet," thrive and develop," she says.
The decision means that the property unit within INFRA will be organised as a separate department within the administration, the Property Department, from 1 January 2026. The head of the department will be the current property manager Lennart Johansson. The decision also means that the janitorial office, printing houses and real estate finance will in future belong to the Property Department.
"The decision is based on a thorough investigation, where many perspectives have been taken into account, which has given us a strong basis for the organisational change to bring together property issues and thereby strengthen the development of our environments going forward," she says.
AV Technology and employees who mainly work with AV Technology will belong to INFRA. The management of IT accessories and office supplies will be coordinated within the Service Center at INFRA. More info about this will come in the future.
