The Board of Directors proposes reappointment of Anders Fällström
At its meeting on 24 April, the University Board unanimously decided to work for a reappointment for a further three years for Vice-Chancellor Anders Fällström. Before a formal decision is made, a consultation process must be conducted.
Over the past year, the Board has discussed a possible second extension of Anders Fällström as Vice-Chancellor of Mid Sweden University, or whether a new recruitment should be made. During the process, dialogue has been conducted with representatives of academia as well as union representatives. Student representatives were also offered individual dialogues with the chair.
The current appointment for Anders Fällström expires in March 2026, but at the board meeting on April 24, the board decided to initiate a process to extend the appointment until March 2029.
Due to a procedural error when the decision was made, the decision was formally invalid. The board has therefore subsequently made a correct decision, which unfortunately has meant that the process has dragged on.
A consultation process with staff and students will therefore be carried out and a formal decision will be made at the board meeting on 25 September, or at an additional meeting in the autumn.
