New library director recruited – welcome Anneli Friberg!
Anneli Friberg has been appointed the new library director at Mid Sweden University, succeeding Maivor Hallén. She will take up her position on 6 October and will be stationed in Östersund.
Since 2022, Anneli has worked as a library director at the University of Skövde. Prior to that, she held various managerial and leadership positions at Linköping University Library for twelve years and also has many years of experience as a manager in municipal library operations.
"There were several different things that contributed to me applying to Mid Sweden University," says Anneli. I enjoy the role of manager at a university library, and after my years at a smaller university, I have come to long to return to a university.
At first, Anneli is most looking forward to getting to know her new employees and colleagues. In the longer term, she looks forward to working with her colleagues to help give Mid Sweden University's students, teachers and researchers the support they need to be able to conduct studies, teaching and research.
"I'm very happy that Anneli Friberg has chosen to join us. She has extensive experience in university libraries and a strong commitment to development, user focus and open science. With her strategic expertise and understanding of how the library can contribute to both the quality of education and the impact of research, she will be an important force in the continued development work," says Louise Beskow, University Director.
Anneli has lived in Linköping for many years and is looking forward to moving to Östersund.
"I have no connection at all to Östersund from before. But I spent a day there a few years ago when my husband and I had hiked the Jämtland Triangle. Then I became very fond of the city and its proximity to mountains, forests and lakes. I think it will be very exciting and fun to get to know, and become a part of, Mid Sweden University."
We look forward to welcoming Anneli to Mid Sweden University. She will take up her position on 6 October, based in Östersund. She succeeds Maivor Hallén, who will retire on 31 October.
