The welcome day at Mid Sweden University in Sundsvall attracted many to campus today. Between 11 am and 1 pm, houses N, M and L were filled with new and old students, employers, organisations and associations who wanted to welcome the students to the start of the semester.

Eddie Ulander, who is studying engineering engineering chemistry, Fredrik Faith-Ell, who is studying civil engineering electrical engineering and Erik Berglund, who is studying engineering engineering physics, mingled on the welcome day.

There was a lot of life and movement on campus today when the welcome day started. Both old and new students took the opportunity to make important contacts and try out different activities.

The student union offered sausages and party ice cream and the student choir Gungner attracted with freshly baked croissants and the joy of singing. For those who wanted to move, there were free try-out yoga sessions and the STC research centre organised an appreciated dance battle. CSN was on site of course and answered questions about student loans and Fontänhuset in Sundsvall talked about its activities as a safe meeting place where no one needs to feel alone.

"It's good that things are happening"

Many students took the opportunity to mingle around the stands. Eddie Ulander, who is studying for a Master of Science in Engineering Chemistry, thought it was great to be back on campus.
"It's nice to be there, and to try out some different things that are available here," he says.

Fredrik Faith-Ell, student at the Master of Science Programme in Electrical Engineering, agrees:
"It's good that things are happening, you get to meet companies and they show different opportunities, such as Fritidsbanken.

Erik Berglund, who is studying for a master's degree in engineering physics, was also there and took the opportunity to discover the range.

New student on campus

Among all the new faces was Lovisa Hyllback from Östersund, who had just started studying the COM-PR programme.
"It's good that things are happening on campus. You can check out what's going on in the different stands and make contacts," she says.

Many participants

In addition to the university's own functions such as study counselling, the International Relations Office, the Student Health Service and the library, a number of employers and associations participated. Among the local and regional actors were the Swedish Companies Registration Office, CSN, Norrdans, Sundsvall municipality, Mitthem, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, Eurocon Engineering, Film Västernorrland, Unga Bünsow, Scenkonst Västernorrland and many more.

The day gave the students a chance to get a first insight into the wide range of activities available both on campus and in the city. And with both dance, yoga and croissants on the program, it was a welcome day with something for everyone.
