INFRA changes name – becomes DOS
The Division of Infrastructure is now changing its name and will be called Digitalization and Services, DOS. The new name is considered to describe the department's mission in a more appropriate way.
INFRA was formed in connection with an organisational merger of the IT and property functions. Since then, the property function, janitorial and printing have been broken off into its own organizational unit, the Property Department.
"The current department's mission, responsibilities and operational content no longer correspond to the meaning given by the name Division of Infrastructure. In order not to create ambiguity internally and externally regarding the division of responsibilities and to better reflect the development towards increased digitalization and service orientation, we are changing the name," says Helena Wallskog, Head of Department at DOS.
Digitalization includes both a technical platform to enable digital working methods and support in the area. The new name also clarifies the service department's responsibility for user-oriented support and common services, both in the IT area and in other administrative functions. DOS better reflects the actual content and scope of the department and supports a future-oriented and business-oriented mission.
"It is important to point out that we have not received a new assignment and the name change does not mean a changed mandate over the business. Digitalization takes place throughout the University, together with the operations, and the department's role is to support and create good conditions for this, not to own the issue of digitalisation of operations. The same applies to the service parts, where it is about providing the best possible support, not about taking over responsibility," says Helena Wallskog.
