All operating systems have their different life cycles as well as update support from their vendor. To ensure that the operating system has continued update support, it is important that the operating system is not too old.

The now latest version of Windows 11 is called Windows 11 25H2. To upgrade to Windows 11 25H2, please do as described below.

Down in the right corner of the screen, there will be a blue dot on the Windows Update symbol (looks like a circulation symbol).

  • Click on that symbol, then Windows Update will pop up.
  • Press the "Download & install" button.

When downloading and updating preparations are in progress (1st phase), it is possible to use the computer as usual. You can either minimize or tick off the window for Windows Update, the 1st phase can take 30 to just over 120 minutes depending on the situation.

The different situations can be due to:

  • How old the computer is
  • Miscellaneous software-related parts, such as:
    • The amount of drivers and software
    • Which version of Windows 11 it's being upgraded from
    • Free space on hard disk
    • Speed of the current network when downloading the upgrade

When the 1st phase is complete, a prompt will appear to restart the computer. The restart can take anywhere from 3 to 35 minutes based on the situations mentioned above. It is important not to forcibly shut down the computer at this stage, as it can result in an unusable computer!

Press "Restart now" and let the computer finish the restart!

If you leave the computer in the "Restart now" mode, it will automatically restart after 23 hours.
