The Journalism Program’s development of the education has produced clear results in this year’s application numbers. “It feels fantastic,” says program coordinator Mattias Vesslegård.

This autumn, a new specialization in sports journalism will be launched within the Journalism Program - something that already appears to have made an impact on application figures. At the time of writing, a total of 271 people have applied to the program, with 48 listing it as their first-choice option. That is the highest number of first-choice applicants since 2018.

“I was very happy when I saw the numbers. It suggests that we made the right decision in developing and broadening the Journalism Program,” says Mattias Vesslegård, program coordinator.

Alumni as ambassadors

Thanks to strong connections with alumni, Mattias Vesslegård has also collected short videos in which former students share their experiences of the program, what they work with today, and how the Journalism Program helped advance their careers. These stories have been shared across various channels to both promote the new specialization and raise awareness of the Journalism Program as a whole.

“Our alumni are fantastic ambassadors. I also feel both proud and touched by how much the time spent in the Journalism Program has meant to many people, both for their careers and in life,” says Mattias Vesslegård.

The increased number of applications to the Journalism Program shows that developing the education is producing results.
