Several cases of phishing – be extra vigilant
We are seeing an increased frequency of phishing attacks. Therefore, be extra vigilant for suspicious emails and messages.
How to recognize phishing
Fraudsters are becoming increasingly good at creating emails that look credible. Here are a few things you should pay extra attention to.
• Check the sender address carefully
• Hover over the sender to see the full address. Fraudsters may use addresses that look like real ones, but on closer inspection reveal themselves – for example, faktura@blockett.se instead of faktura@blocket.se.
• Be aware of external email banners: All emails coming from external senders are marked with the following banner: "CAUTION: This message was sent from an external sender and the content should be handled carefully."
If you see this banner, be extra careful before clicking on links or opening attachments. Phishing emails are often sent from addresses outside your organization.
Review links before clicking
Hover over links without clicking. This will show you the real URL, and you can determine if it looks legitimate or if something seems wrong.
If you receive a phishing email – what should you do?
Right-click the email and select Report phishing.
After that, you can discard the email.
What happens if you click on a phishing link?
Phishing aims to steal sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, or payment details. If you provide information or click on a fake link, fraudsters can gain access to both private and mission-critical systems or data.
If you happen to click – what should you do?
Contact IT Support immediately. Do not continue to use the computer or log in to the system until you have received instructions.
