False fire alarm on campus Ă–stersund
A faulty detector in the restaurant on campus Ă–stersund has caused the fire alarm to be triggered for the second day in a row. Troubleshooting and remediation work is ongoing.
A detector in the kitchen of the campus restaurant was activated on Wednesday, which is why the premises in building G had to be evacuated. The alarm was false and was thus not due to fire or smoke development, but to a faulty detector.
"This is of course very unfortunate because we have an intense period where many students are writing their last exams for the semester this week in the same building as the restaurant. However, the exams that are scheduled for Wednesday afternoon can be carried out as planned," says Lennart Johansson, Property Manager.
Yesterday, too, the alarm was activated incorrectly and intensive work is underway to deal with the consequences of the exams that had to be cancelled.
The real estate company Intea has been commissioned by Mid Sweden University's property manager to troubleshoot and fix the problem immediately so that operations are not disrupted further during this period when a large number of exams are planned.
