Students were welcomed to campus
On Tuesday, new and current students were welcomed to Mid Sweden University in Östersund. On the campus's student plan, there were about 30 organizations, associations and employers on site to meet the students.
Throw a lasso, try archery, mini table tennis and cornhole – there were plenty of activities for the students to try out during the welcome day. Those who wanted to could also take the opportunity to talk to employers and associations, or replenish their energy with cinnamon buns, sweets and a slice of pizza from the food truck in the area.
Friends Valid Ajjan and Mohamad Sawson have just moved up to Östersund from Gothenburg to start studying the economics programme. Together with some newfound study buddies, they walk around on the large grassy area and try out the different activities.
"It's fun to be there. The campus is big and seems really nice," says Valid.
The welcome day is arranged at both campuses during the intro week and is a collaboration between Mid Sweden University, the Chamber of Commerce, the municipalities and the student unions. In Östersund, there are about 27 participants on site to meet the students.
One of them is Folkuniversitetet, which collaborates with the student union in Östersund, among other places.
"Among other things, we offer board training and have a student choir together with the union. We also have a rehearsal room in building Q on campus that students who want to play music can use," says Erik Wennergren, education director at Folkuniversitetet.
On Thursday 3 September, it is time for a welcome day at Mid Sweden University's campus in Sundsvall.
