Are you a researcher looking to improve the way you organize your research data, better understand the requirements that apply to the information you handle, and know what needs to be preserved when a project comes to an end? This autumn, the seminar series Practical Support for Managing Research Data will be offered.
The seminar series is aimed at researchers and provides practical guidance on how to manage research data in a secure and well-structured way throughout the research process. The series was also offered during the spring and is now being offered again.
The series consists of three sessions and follows a fictional research project throughout the series. This approach makes the topics practical, concrete, and easy to relate to in your own research.
14 October – Understanding Public Records and Information Classification
We start with the basics: what constitutes a public record in research and how to carry out a simple information classification to understand the requirements associated with the information you create and manage.
Session 1: Understanding Public Records and Information Classification
19 November – Organising and Collecting Research Data
This session focuses on the active phase of a research project. We will discuss how to organise and structure research data, create order among files and working materials, and store information securely throughout the project.
Session 2: Organising and Collecting Research Data
9 December – Preserving, Discarding of and Archiving Research Data
The final session focuses on records preservation, discarding and archiving of research data, as well as the practical process of transferring information to the archives.
Session 3: Preserving, Discarding of and Archiving Research Data
All sessions will be held via Teams from 13:00 to 14:00. No registration is required.
The sessions are stand-alone and may be attended individually. However, together they provide a comprehensive overview of how research data can be managed throughout the entire research lifecycle.
