Instructions for collecting and storing personal data in student projects
This page describes the tools and storage areas that should be used when processing personal data in student projects at Mid Sweden University.
The instructions apply, for example, to degree projects, memos, essays and assignments, where personal data is processed.
The page will be updated regularly as more tools are introduced.
Storage of personal data
Personal data in student projects must be stored in Mid Sweden University's designated storage area:
It is not allowed to store personal data: in private cloud services (e.g. private Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud)
on USB flash drives or external hard drives in personal computers or private accounts
If material is temporarily stored locally (e.g. during recording), it must be transferred to the designated storage area as soon as possible and the local copy deleted.
Surveys
When collecting personal data through surveys, the following tools shall be used:

Surveys may not be created in private accounts or external services, but survey responses must be saved and managed within Mid Sweden University's system.
Interviews and recordings
If you're conducting interviews or recording audio or video:
Use Mid Sweden University's account and system in the first instance.
Recorded material must be stored in the designated storage area.
Local copies should be deleted after transfer.
