Routines for course evaluations
Content:
All course evaluations consist of two pages. The first contains core questions determined by the Vice-Chancellor’s management team, allowing us to measure quality over time. The second page contains course-specific questions. Currently, both open-ended and scale-based questions are used in our forms, and it is possible to choose whether the course evaluation is in Swedish or English.
With the transition to Canvas, we unfortunately no longer have the ability to add custom questions on a third page, track response rates while the evaluation is active among students, or view the final report, as this was previously handled in Moodle, our former learning platform. However, the plan is that when we transition to Miun Survey, similar functions will be available.
Mailing:
As a rule, each course evaluation is sent out on the Friday of the course’s final week. The evaluation then remains open for 13 days, during which two reminders are also sent to those who have not yet responded. The emails are sent in both Swedish and English and include a personal link that students must click to access the form.
Note that the course evaluation is sent to the email address students provided when registering at Mid Sweden University. This is not always the same email they actively use in the learning platform, but rather their student email, e.g., maos2300@student.miun.se.
Once the course evaluations have been sent out, it is no longer possible to edit the mailing list or add email addresses.
Reports:
The reports/summaries are sent to department heads immediately after they close. Currently, while we are between two systems, they are responsible for distributing them further to course coordinators.
