Inaugural lecture: From painful joints to nature‑based health‑promoting nursing care
Mats Jong is a newly appointed Professor of Nursing. In his inaugural lecture, he will describe how his interest in creating conditions for better health and enhanced well-being led him to become involved in the international WAYA project.
Mats has devoted his research career finding ways to help people deal manage pain, anxiety and sleeping difficulties. Over the years, however, a new question emerged: How can we not only reduce ill health, but also create the conditions for better health and enhanced well-being?
In this lecture, we will follow this development and learn how previous research experiences came together in the international WAYA project. Together with researchers from several countries, Mats is exploring how nature-based programmes, rest and recreation can strengthen the health and well-being of young people affected by cancer.
