Study plans
For each subject where third-cycle studies are organised, there must be a general study syllabus that describes the content of the programme. The third-cycle student follows the study plan that applies at the time of admission.

General syllabi
The General syllabus specifies the requirements that apply to each third-cycle subject within the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media. Previous versions of study plans can be found at the Faculty Office and in the registry.

Individual study plans
According to the Higher Education Ordinance, an individual study plan must be drawn up for each doctoral student. It must contain the university's and the doctoral student's commitments, as well as a timetable for the doctoral student's education. The plan must be decided after consultation with the doctoral student and his or her supervisor.
The individual study plan must be regularly followed up and, after consultation with the doctoral student and his or her supervisor, amended by the university to the extent necessary. At Mid Sweden University, individual study plans are managed in the Research Database.

Processing
Upon admission
In connection with admission, the Faculty Office prepares a draft study plan in Mid Sweden University's research database. Doctoral students and supervisors will be notified of this and are requested to submit assignments and approve the study plan as soon as possible.
Annually
At the end of each year, the study plan must be revised and approved by the doctoral students and supervisors. The Collegium for Research and Innovation monitors the study plans for all doctoral students in the subject, and the Council for Doctoral Education decides on study plans for the faculty's doctoral students.
Roles
Student
In consultation with the supervisor, enter information in the study plan about planned and completed components of the doctoral education. Course results registered in Ladok and publications entered in Diva are transferred automatically.
Supervisor
Assists doctoral students in planning the coming year, scores completed dissertation sections (milestones) and approves the individual study plan.
Head of department
Follows up on the individual study plans for doctoral students in the subject and approves study plans.
Council for Third-cycle Education
Approves individual study plans for doctoral students within the faculty.
