Call for funds for teachers' research qualification program
The teachers' research qualification program is open for applications during the period 15 February to 1 May 2023. Application can be made by permanently employed teachers at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media.
Background and purpose
The Faculty Board at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media has allocated funds for teachers' qualifications with a focus on research.
The purpose of the call is to work for the faculty's and the University's strategy and goals, such as facilitating development of complete research environments in balance between research and education, strengthening and profiling existing research environments, strengthening and developing active leadership by supporting personal development for individuals, increase equality and diversity and/or strengthen existing and developing new international exchanges and collaborations.
Funds for teachers' research qualifications may for example allow for research or collaborations and stays at other universities in Sweden or abroad as a step towards further career development.
Assessment criteria
Funding can be sought by permanently employed teachers at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Technology and Media. However, funds cannot be applied for by lecturers admitted to research education or by teachers in the field of Design, as the faculty has allocated specific funds for that field. A prerequisite for applying for the funds is that you do not already have faculty funding for research qualification. The application may however be combined with the funds for qualification and mobility provided within the framework of the faculty's guest professor’s program.
Applications relating to the end of the qualification phase are given priority, which means a reasonable opportunity to be promoted within two years. Assessment is based on an account of how the qualification is meant to contribute to the individual's personal development and to strengthen the environment from a strategic perspective based on feasibility and justification.
Application
The application is made at the individual level and must contain:
- Intended qualification level (senior lecturer, professor or docent)
- Description of what the funds are to be used for, with justification in which way the funds contribute to the qualification, including timetable for qualification (a maximum of 4 pages)
- CV and list of publications
- Certificate from head of department and subject representative with a description of how the environment is strengthened by the intended qualification
- Budget.
The application must relate to the Faculty's instructions (qualifications criteria) for appointment as senior lecturer, professor or associate professor. All of the documents mentioned above can be found under the “Anställa personal” page. The application must be written based on the headings in the quality criteria for each qualification level.
Applicants who are relatively new in their academic career and are not used to formulating their research work and ambitions as independently as is expected from senior staff are advised to take support from their research environment.
Conditions
Applications in the range 100,000 - 250,000 SEK will be prioritized. The funds must be expended in 2024.
Assessment is made by an internal assessment group consisting of the Dean and the chairman, teacher representatives and PhD student representative of the Academic Appointments Council.
Successful applicants must send in a follow-up report by 15 November 2024. In the report, the scientific development must be particularly emphasized and put in relation to what was stated in the application and the results achieved with the support of the funds.
Application proceduce
The application documents must be received by the Academic Appointments Council (att: John Håkansson) no later than 1 May 2023.
Decisions on the allocation of funds are made by the Faculty Board on 7 June 2023.
Funds are received from 1 January 2024. Funds must be used before the end of 2024.
