What is it like to attend classes at Mid Sweden University? And what do our students think about the teachers?
Digital ambassador Linh from Vietnam tells us about her experiences:
Oh Sweden! What an eventful ride it has been
Coming to Sweden, specifically to Östersund attending Mittuniversitetet, I did not expect a lot. Or, to put it in a more precise way, I did not know what to expect. I applied for my Erasmus exchange here simply because I wanted to test my endurance to the cold weather here as a student coming from a tropical country, and that was about it. After five months as an Erasmus student here, I am now happy to say that the experience and memories at MIUN and in Östersund have far exceeded my non-existent expectations!
I still vividly remember the first night I was in Östersund, I got the warmest welcome by the members of the IC (International Committee) at the airport. Following that was the Introduction period also organized by IC and the university. Although it was only two weeks but during that time, I got to know so many people who now have become some of my really good friends. We bonded through various activities such as the Ski week - which in my opinion is one of the highlights of my exchange semester. I had the chance to try a new sport that I had never thought I would ever do, also had the worst fall since knowing how to walk and oh boy, did it hurt; but on top of that, I created unforgettable memories. That is what counts.
Aside from the fun fun fun activities, studying at Mid Sweden University has also been delightful.
Before the coronavirus crisis happened and then we all had to stay home, I was lucky enough to have my fair share of attending classes at the university, from the Swedish language class to my study-major classes. The lecturers made the lessons extra interesting with their unique ways of teachings and with how they care about each and every student. I was particularly impressed with my Professor for the class of Social Work, she is, I have to say, one of the most caring and kind person I have known since coming to study abroad. She made me feel so welcome, so at home, although home is geographically thousands of miles away for me. I greatly appreciate her for that.
Then Corona happened. It prevented me from going to university, I have to admit I was quite sad for a hot minute. But that did not stop me from exploring the Swedish nature with the company of some good friends. Together we hiked through some of the, in my humble opinion, most mesmerizing landscape I have ever witness with my own naked eyes. I am grateful that I have the chance to live here during this difficult time, and to still make the most out of my stay in Sweden.
Last but not least, I am immensely thankful to Mittuniversitetet for giving me this opportunity to be a digital ambassador for the university. I utterly cherish the chance to be able to share my Erasmus exchange experience to prominent students a whole lot.
Tack så mycket, Sverige!
