Hello!

A warm welcome to the course Human Geography BA (A), Economic Geography - From Local to Global Perspectives and as a student at Mid Sweden University.

Hi everyone, I am happy to welcome you to this course in Human Geography. My name is Dimitri Ioannides and I am a professor of human geography. I will be the instructor for the course. I look forward to meeting you all in a few weeks.

Four weeks before the beginning of the course you will get access to your schedule at, Schedule. The time and place/link for your teaching can be found in your schedule.

Please note that the timetable may be updated until the beginning of the course and even after that if something unforeseen happens.

Education information

This is an introductory course in human geography. It will be taught in English. The course is open to program students but also exchange students and others who might not be regular students at this university as long as they meet the requirements. The course will have lectures and seminars. The main literature for the course is the textbook Knox & Marston: Human Geography: Places and Regions in Global Context (latest edition).

Before you can begin your studies, there are three things you need to do

1. Create a student account 

As a new student, you need to create a student account to get access to the university´s e-services, such as Ladok, where you can register for courses and examinations, see your study results, and access the University Library´s e-services, as well as the learning platform Moodle.

Please note that the earliest date to create your student account is 20 days before the beginning of the course (spring term) or 30 days before the begging of the course (autumn term).

If you have a Swedish personal identification number (format: yyyymmdd e.g., 198101201111) you can verify your identity using EduID. International students without a Swedish identity number must verify their identity using Antagning.se.

2. Read through the current syllabus

In the course syllabus, there is information about the course literature and other important things about the course for both teachers and students.

3. Register for your course

You must register for all of the courses you want to take during the semester. Register on Course: miun.se/registration

You can register no earlier than three workdays before the beginning of the course. It is important that you register for each course.
