Student insurance
All students are insured through the university. The insurance is equivalent to the occupational injury insurance's accident cover. On the other hand, it does not cover accidents during leisure time.
The insurance is valid in Sweden and covers accidents during school hours and during the journey between home and the place where school time is spent. School hours refer to all time spent on the university's premises and area, except when the stay there is prompted by an activity of a leisure nature arranged by someone other than the university, as well as all other time when the student participates in activities under the auspices of the university (e.g. internship, field-based studies).
It also covers certain special cases of disease by infection, e.g. when the disease has been contracted during employment in a laboratory where work with the infectious agent is carried out.
Since the insurance is only valid during school hours and during direct travel between the home and the place where the school time is spent, it is very important that the individual student ensures that he or she obtains adequate insurance cover that covers leisure time.
